It’s not every day that the Delta team pick up an outstanding trophy, therefore it came as a pleasant surprise when we scooped The Wine of Provenance Trophy at the Marlborough Wine Show 2019.
The Marlborough Wine Show, organised by the fabulous Wine Marlborough team, is an opportunity to showcase our carefully crafted wines, and to compete alongside our Marlborough peers within the wine industry. Most importantly, it offers a platform for celebrating everything gorgeous that the Marlborough wine industry has to offer.
As part of the celebration long lunch awards ceremony on 25th October, trophies were announced throughout the afternoon, awarding the top wineries within Marlborough with well-deserved accolades. Delta was presented with “The Coterie Wine of Provenance Trophy 2019”, which was gracefully accepted by our winemaker Heather Stewart.
Heather notes “Accepting this award for Delta is incredibly humbling. We work hard to create exceptional wines that show a true sense of place, therefore having our flagship Hatters Hill Pinot Noir 2017 recognised as the best wine of provenance in Marlborough is sensational!”
Kyle Thompson, Heather Stewart, Sarina Ibbotson and Alison Downs with the Wine of Provenance Trophy awarded to Delta Wines.
But what is Wine of Provenance I hear you say!? Wine of Provenance refers to a single vineyard of significant pedigree, recognised as an exceptional example of its place of origin- so in a nutshell, it’s an exemplary high-quality wine worth enjoying a glass or two of!
It’s a prestigious award, recognising the elegance and quality that we aim to produce from the Delta Pinot Noir Vineyard in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys, and we are incredibly proud of this success!
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to all other medal and trophy winners at the show. What a wonderful celebration of our fantastic industry, and a big thank you to Wine Marlborough for organising such an excellent event.
