Our flagship Hatters Hill wines encompass the finest, carefully selected, small-batch handcrafted wines from Delta. These wines use only the best quality grapes, preserving and enhancing the expression of the unique vineyard sites. They are powerful wines made to reflect the very best expression of the terroir and winemaker’s skills. They have potential for mid to long term cellaring and are excellent food matching wines.
The name Hatters Hill stems from Tom Hatter, an eccentric and colourful character who lived in rural Marlborough in the early 1900s. Folklore dictates that his time was spent tending to his orchards and walking the hills overlooking the Delta site. It’s been said that we were “mad as hatters” to focus all of our initial efforts on Pinot Noir production in Marlborough in the early 2000’s, and if it weren’t for the quality of the wine, we might have agreed.
