Delta Estate Wines is delighted to share the exciting results from the 2024 New Zealand International Wine Show. This year marks a special milestone, as the competition celebrates its 20th anniversary under the expert guidance of Bob Campbell MW and a panel of expert judges from the wine industry.
Delta Hatters Hill Chardonnay 2022 – 97 Points, Double Gold Medal
The Delta Hatters Hill Chardonnay 2022 received an exciting 97 points and a Double Gold medal. This is a special recognition, as the same wine was awarded a gold medal at the 2023 competition.
Sourced from the exceptional Southern Valleys and Condors Bend areas in Marlborough, renowned for producing expressive and high-quality Chardonnay. After being aged in new French oak barriques, the wine exhibits an elegant balance of bold flavours and refined complexity, making it a delicious choice for both immediate enjoyment and future cellaring.
Since Chardonnay is one of Heather’s favourites, this accolade feels even more special to her! She comments, “It’s really nice to be awarded again for our Hatters Hill Chardonnay, as it is a labor of love and we are very pedantic with our winemaking to maintain the integrity of the exceptional fruit, and to produce a balanced wine with all the elements we enjoy in a glass of Chardonnay.”
Delta Distinction Series Identity Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2024 – 95 Points, Gold Medal
The Delta Distinction Series Sauvignon Blanc 2024 was also highly awarded in the 2024 competition, receiving 95 points and a Gold medal. This wine is a key part of Delta Estates export lineup, crafted from grapes sourced specifically from the renowned Dillon's Point sub-region. The vibrant flavours of this Sauvignon Blanc truly shine, with lively notes of passionfruit and gooseberry.
Fermented in stainless steel using carefully selected yeast strains, this wine embodies the freshness and character that Delta Estate Wines strives for. It’s an exciting addition to our portfolio, and we look forward to sharing it with wine lovers both locally and internationally.
Heather Stewart shared her excitement about the recent award for the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc: “it’s wonderful to see an award for our very newly released 2024 Sauvignon Blanc. It was a fabulous vintage, but with some climatic differences from the norm, so we took a lot of care to ensure we produced a wine with the elegance, minerality, clean acidity and lovely aromatics our Sauvignons are known for.”
