Description: Our Hatters Hill Chardonnay is elegant and smooth. Stone fruit driven with wonderful chalky mineral notes from the limestone soil the grapes were grown in. Well balanced toasty oak complements the nectarine and peach flavours.
CURRENT TASTING NOTES:
PREVIOUS TASTING NOTES:
Winemaker: Heather Stewart.
Aroma: Elegant fragrant fresh peach with hints of oak spice and crushed oyster shell.
Palate: Luscious nectarine and citrus flavours with a hint of subtle spice, as well as a rich and alost chalky texture.
Drinking Potential: Drinking now and will continue to evolve positively over the next five years.
Viticulture & Winemaking: The fruit comes from a single vineyard in the south of Marlborough, a unique spot with limestone soils which in turn draw out mineral notes within the Chardonnay. The fruit was carefully monitored during ripening and picked at maximum physiological ripeness. The best bunches were hand picked, and then at the winery whole bunch pressed. The grapes were fermented in new and seasoned French oak barriques and then matured on lees for ten months prior to bottling.
Analysis: Alcohol 13%, Residual Sugar 1.0g/L, PH 3.44, Acidity 5.3g/L
