Viticulture & Winemaking: These Merlot grapes were selected from a naturally low cropping vineyard in Marlborough’s Rapaura sub-region. Stoney free draining soils and warm summers ensured these grapes fully ripened. The fruit was cold soaked for four days to extract colour. The juice was then fermented and hand plunged and pumped over to enhance tannins, colours and flavour. It was then aged in seasoned French and American oak, underwent malolactic fermentation and ageing on lees. The wine was then blended and lightly fined prior to bottling
