This intensely perfumed Sauvignon Blanc is a wine of great pungency on the nose with depth and richness on the palate, harnessed by typical varietal acidity.
Vineyard
The vineyard is planted to more or less North-South orientation to achieve maximum sunshine. Row spacing is 2.8 m and plant spacing 2.4m which allows for balanced plants when root development is fully established.
Vinification
The grapes were machine harvested during the night and very early morning at cool temperatures around 5° C. The harvested grapes were transported immediately to the winery where they were de-stemmed and pressed to minimize skin contact. The racked juice was then inoculated with yeast and fermented at 12° C for three weeks. After careful monitoring, the wine was racked, stabilized, filtered and bottled.
Tasting Note
This wine has classic Marlborough pungency and varietal definition. There are aromas of white and blackcurrants and plenty of passion fruit. The palate is full, finishing with fresh gooseberry and currant acidity with mineral characters that linger for several minutes. This is an excellent food wine that will enhance meals with delicate flavours such as white meats or fish.
