Delta Sauvignon Blanc Vineyard

Matt Thomson, one of Marlborough’s busiest winemaking consultants, has found that the area around Dillons Point produces the most intense flavours in Sauvignon Blanc. In 2001 he and his family found a 25 acre site in this sub-region and planted it exclusively in Sauvignon Blanc. 70% is Clone 1; the balance Clone BDX317.

The vineyard is planted to more or less North-South orientation and to row spacing of 2.8m and plant spacing of 2.4m. The Dillons Point sub-region has slightly cooler nights in summer, even soils with high levels of available minerals, and incredible drainage due to sand from an ancient riverbed lying beneath the soil.
