Raymond Chan Wine Reviews
Raymond Chan has give the 2010 Delta Hatter's Hill Pinot Noir 5 stars. He describes it as dark, deep, ruby-red colour with garnet hues, lighter on rim. The nose is full and softly packed with complex aromas of ripe black cherry and dark raspberry fruit interwoven with earth, dried herbs, spices and suggestions of undergrowth, and a delicate violetty note. The bouquet is showing secondary development interest and detail. Medium-full bodied, the fruit flavours of raspberries, cherries, spices and earthy undergrowth are restrained but are expressed with an underlying lusciousness and a concentrated core. Fine-grained, sinewy tannins and lively acidity balance the fruit, providing structure and a concentrated linear flow that leads to a very long, elegant finish. This is a rich and stylishly restrained, sinewy, concentrated Pinot Noir showing the beginnings of secondary undergrowth complexities. Match with pork, beef and lamb, and with hard cheeses over the next 6+ years.
